DEPAA exists to halt the exploitation of indigenous tribes. We implement direct action to help tribespeople live how they want to live, without external pressure or damage to their habitats in the name of commerce or economic progress.

DEPAA fights to protect the voiceless and vulnerable indigenous peoples in the Amazon and beyond. But it's easy to overlook just how high the stakes are. When an uncontacted tribe's right to privacy and way of life is threatened, the true risk is not mere assimilation. Life and death are on the line. The stark fate of the Murutaibo tribe reminds us of why we fight.
The three DEPAA activists arrested in Calca, Peru in connection with the death of Professor Markus Schoenberg have been released without charge. DEPAA is a non-violent organisation and has always categorically denied any involvement in this affair. We hope the Peruvian police department will follow the release of our activists with a formal apology.
Despite an oppressive police presence an estimated 4000 people marched through La Paz to protest against the planned deforestation of an area inhabited by an Aymaran tribe.
A campaign of letter writing and international demonstrations have resulted in the abandonment of plans to relocate an Ecuadorian Pasto Indian tribe.
